No, You Pick!

For friends who just can't decide where to eat.

What is this?

No You Pick is the ultimate one stop shop to solve all "where should we eat" questions.

As social characters and avid eaters ourselves, we know too well the struggle that is deciding where to have lunch with our friends. “You pick!”, “No, you choose!” — This excruciating, endless transaction proves a complex test of character; a duel of who will finally assert dominance and reveal their inner cravings, versus who will maintain indifference to demonstrate utter selflessness and determination. Dramatic, perhaps. But it’s a struggle nonetheless. Enter: No, You Pick!

Born as a solution for couples deciding where to eat, we've expanded the idea to accommodate all indecisiveness diners, be they family members, friend groups, or awkward first meetings. Somewhere to eat? Need it quick? We’ve got you covered.

How Do I Use It?

NYP is quick and easy to use, because that’s the whole point. No accounts, no downloads, no thinking required; all you need is an internet connection.

First, one member of the group clicks into NYP and starts a room. They will set the basic preferences for the group: namely, what time you plan to eat, how much you want to spend, the location you’d like to eat in, and the radius of your restaurant matches. If no location is specified, NYP defaults to restaurants around your current area — so don’t forget to allow location access!

Once the parameters are set, your group host shares their unique room link with everyone in the group. As each member arrives in the room, their names pop up under ‘Who’s Here’ on everyone’s screens. And finally, the match-making begins. Restaurants are displayed in order of proximity to your chosen location. As brainlessly as you swipe on dating apps, let your intuition freely assign Yes or No to each restaurant hopeful. When all members of the room have reached a consensus, NYP presents you with your final restaurant match, no duels or dramatics required. Hold the applause.

How Was This Made?

It all happened pretty quickly actually, here's a fun timeline of events!

Where It All Began

Lex Entwistle has a stroke of brilliance. He imparts his vision in a Facebook status update, and the Internet goes wild.

An Overnight Success

10, 200, 8000... over 50,000 shares on Facebook! Lex’s post starts gaining traction on just about every social media platform.

Just Kidding… Unless?

Rai can code. Vicky enjoys keeping up with trendy memes. When Vicky shows Rai The Post, jokes and "what-ifs" quickly escalate into legitimate brainstorming, planning and developing sessions.

In The Works

12 hours fly by and the basic framework is ready to share. Rai and Vicky let Rebecca in on their secret project; her excitement fuels useful feedback, and the project hits puberty.

Nitty Gritty

More feedback received, more progress made. The project takes shape to resemble Lex’s vision more with each passing day. Also, two thumbs up for Rebecca’s logo design

Blast Off!

After 5 days of labour, the project is groomed, polished, and ready to serve. NYP timidly enters our friend circles, and bears numerous excited comments upon its return.

Hello World

At last, NYP is out for all to see. It’s history in the making -- and you’re part of it!
